Here are a few examples of Goals and Achievements of people that have been coached by JVB Health & Wellness

A 5'10, 173 pound 50 year old male competitive runner and cyclist that had run 7 marathons, never faster than 3:45
(despite wanting to be much faster).

GOALS:

  1. Qualify for the Boston marathon (3:29:59 time required) and
  2. Run 2017 The Comrades Marathon (55 mile running race on 6/4/17, an “up year”).  He said “just tell me what to do, and I’ll do it.  I’m only going to judge the JVB Health & Wellness coaching based on whether or not I qualify for Boston and achieve my goals”.

ACHIEVEMENTS:

  • Qualified for Boston in exactly 4 months after starting the JVB Health & Wellness Program, running a 3:29:01 marathon.
  • 2 weeks later he ran a 3:29 on a much tougher course, and 2 weeks after the second 3:29 marathon ran a 60k (37.2 miles) in 5 hours and 46 minutes (a 9:17 per mile pace) in hilly Central Park, and a few months later easily ran a 3:26 marathon (in Florida) to ensure entry into the Boston Marathon.
  • He has also PR’d at every distance he ran thereafter, including a 1:33 half marathon in Central Park (7:08 per mile pace, a 5+ minute PR), and a 15k (9.3 miles) at a 6:56 pace per mile in hilly Central Park.
  • The fastest Central Park race he’d ever run prior to working with JVB was 7 years prior at a 7:32 per mile pace.
  • Since training with JVB, he hasn’t been injured, unexpectedly lost 15 pounds, has more energy, and feels spectacular overall.
  • He continues to follow the JVB Health & Wellness Program to achieve his goals.

A 6’1” 39 year old, 187 pound male with zero running and triathlon experience that wanted help training for his first triathlon.

GOAL:

Finish first in a local triathlon against about 9 other co-workers in the race (most of his co-workers were already fast, experienced, triathletes).  Prior to working with JVB Health & Wellness, he had never run 2 miles faster than a 7:17 per mile pace and he was miserable doing it.  He hated exercising, ate poorly, and needed to lose some weight to get in better shape.

ACHIEVEMENTS:

  • After JVB Health & Wellness analyzed his first 2 run files (heart rate, pace, elevation, cadence, weather, etc.), JVB Health & Wellness told him that he had a gifted heart and that if he trained properly he should easily beat his co-workers and could probably qualify for the half ironman world championships.
  • At this point, he had never done a triathlon, didn’t own a road bike, and couldn’t swim fast. A few months later, Ben came in first among all of his co-workers in a triathlon and the next year qualified for the half ironman world championships, losing over 20 pounds and becoming absolutely ripped.
  • He also ran a 1:28 half marathon (6:44 pace on a tough course), won his age group in big triathlons, and came in third place overall at a very hilly, trail half marathon. (see “Ben” testimonial for a full list of achievements).

A 5'3", 171 pound 50 year old woman with an inconsistent history of running and frequent injuries.

GOALS:

(1) lose weight
(2) run the 2016 marathon, and
(3) feel good and not get injured.

ACHIEVEMENTS:

  • Lost 30 pounds in about 4 months
  • Ran the NYC marathon in 5:11, a personal best by nearly 2 hours
  • Ran a half marathon in 2:15, besting her previous PR of 2:39 (and all but 2 previous half marathons were over 3 hours),
  • Ran a 4 mile race in 38:51 (9:43 pace), besting her previous PR of 46:13 (11:33 pace), and had zero injuries during training.
  • She continues to follow the JVB Health & Wellness Program, is training for her first triathlon, has maintained her 30+ pounds weight loss more than a year later, and wants to get faster in all race distances

A 6’1” 48 year old, 177 pound male, inconsistent in training, with a ton of natural ability that he never fully achieved due to the way he trained...

(always lived in the middle doing the same workouts, didn’t exercise consistently, and did zero strength training).  A multiple-time Boston Marathon qualifier before working with JVB Health & Wellness (3:19 personal best years ago), he got slower and he got older and ran a very slow (for him) ~3:50 2016 Boston Marathon and was frequently injured.

GOALS:

Train more consistently, stay injury free, and run a personal best marathon time.

ACHIEVEMENTS:

  • In just 3 months of training with JVB, ran a 3:19 marathon on a brutally hot day with a 75 degree dew point (after having run a 3:50 earlier that year in good weather), and
  • 2 months later ran a 3:10 marathon PR (including one minute in the bathroom) at 48 years old!

A 5'7", 257 pound 45 year old male doctor that over the years let his health deteriorate to obesity and overall ill health.  He exercised and moved infrequently and was injured frequently.

GOALS:

(1) lose 100-110 pounds and
(2) do an IRONMAN race in 2018.

ACHIEVEMENTS:

  • In just over 8 months, he went from 257 to 175 pounds (lost 82 pounds and waist size went from 42 to 34 inches) and as he puts it, moving from definitionally “obese” to simply “overweight”.
  • He recently improved his half marathon time by 45 minutes, has a ton more energy, and is proud everyday he sticks with the program.
  • He continues to follow the JVB Health & Wellness Program to achieve his goals.

A 5'8", 128 pound, 39 year old woman with a lot of raw natural ability but was unable to translate this ability into qualifying for the Boston Marathon.

GOALS:

(1) qualify for the Boston marathon, a 3:44:59 time, despite never having run faster than 3:57 and most marathons were over 4 hours and one marathon over 5 hours.
(2) run The Comrades Marathon in South Africa in 2015 (55 mile running race).

ACHIEVEMENTS:

  • After 4 months working with JVB Health & Wellness, she ran a 3:40 marathon to qualify for the Boston Marathon just 2 weeks after running a 3:45 (just missing a Boston qualification (BQ).
  • Ran Comrades in 11:38.  Also unexpectedly reduced her ldl from 142 to 70 in 3 months and lost 8 pounds (becoming super lean and ripped) on the JVB Health & Wellness program

A 5'4”, 140 pound, 41 year old woman we met at a physical therapy session who was complaining about how miserable marathon training is and how she was always injured.

GOALS:

Train for and run a marathon pain/injury free, enjoy the marathon, be pain free after the marathon, and improve her marathon time.

ACHIEVEMENTS:

  • Ran a 4:21 NYC Marathon, besting her previous marathon time of 4:51, with pain free training and after the marathon.
  • In her second marathon with JVB Health & Wellness, she ran a 4:05.
  • She has run a number of marathons since then and has finished them all between 4:05 and 4:21.
  • She continues to follow the JVB Health & Wellness Program and wants to run a sub 4 hour marathon.
